WASHINGTON, DC — A coalition of climate groups, including LCV Victory Fund, Climate Power Action, and EDF Action Votes, in partnership with Future Forward (FF PAC), are starting a major $55 million advertising campaign to support Vice President Harris with a focus on her vision to lower energy costs and create hundreds of thousands of good paying, American jobs in clean energy manufacturing. The first ad shows how Kamala Harris has taken on Big Oil companies for ripping people off while Donald Trump will always stand with oil executives.
Watch: Our Side Vulnerable Defining Goal
Throughout the advertising campaign, voters will hear about Kamala Harris’s plan to hold big oil companies accountable when they price-gouge consumers and her vision for an American economy powered by fast-growing, affordable clean energy. Voters will see a sharp contrast with Donald Trump who has promised massive tax breaks to oil companies and will take our economy backwards with higher energy costs.
The advertising campaign will reach across battleground states – Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, along with Nebraska’s Second Congressional District. It will include a major investment in digital platforms like YouTube, CTV/OTT and programmatic video along with far reaching broadcast and cable advertising. Over the course of the campaign key audiences will include Black, Latino and young voters.
“We will be making sure that voters know that as Attorney General Kamala Harris took on Big Oil and won while Trump’s unhinged attempts to cater to oil executives only get more extreme,” said Pete Maysmith, SVP for Campaigns at LCV Victory Fund. “Harris’s record as Attorney General, Senator and Vice President, her work holding oil companies accountable, and the jobs and cost savings that come with clean energy mean she represents the future that voters are looking for. “
“There is only one climate champion in this race, Kamala Harris; and only one candidate who’s begged Big Oil to fund his campaign, Donald Trump,” said Lori Lodes, President of Climate Power Action. “As President, Harris will continue investing in clean energy manufacturing in the United States, to create good jobs, deliver cheaper energy options, and strengthen climate actions. Our new campaign will show voters how Harris has put the health and well-being of hardworking people over Big Oil and corporate polluters her entire career.”
“By partnering together, we can ensure voters understand all that is at stake in this election,” said Jack Pratt who directs EDF Action Votes. “The choice could not be any more stark. As a candidate in 2024, Donald Trump has doubled down on his awful environmental record. He jokes about sea level rise delivering more ocean front property and pledges to roll back protections for clean air and water, while pursuing $1 billion in campaign donations from oil CEOs. We can’t afford to let Trump deliver on his dirty promises.”
“There are two visions for the future in this election: Kamala Harris’s vision is focused on helping working families – from lowering energy bills to creating new jobs in growing industries like clean energy. Donald Trump is focused on helping wealthy corporations like big oil companies make more money,” said FF PAC President Chauncey McLean. “This partnership will make sure voters know that Kamala Harris is the one who’s on their side.”
Individual groups also will be engaged in additional electoral activities, including in pivotal congressional, state, and local races across the country.
