Donald Trump said he had “nothing to do with Project 2025,” except now he’s appointing one contributor after another to the most important positions in his administration. He also said he wants clean air and water — but now he’s putting in charge of his government spending one of the masterminds of the 900-page manifesto that would sabotage the very ways we get them.
In Project 2025, Russ Vought wrote they would hollow out the independent agencies charged by Congress to stand between polluters’ recklessness and Americans’ rights. We know what it could look like. During Trump’s first four years, EPA lost more than 1,500 scientists and policy experts. But that’s not enough for Vought, apparently, who said other career public servants like them should be villainized and experience so much “trauma” they don’t even want to go to work anymore.
Without their expertise, our air will be less healthy, our water less trustworthy, our energy sources less abundant and our electricity grids less reliable. What you want for your family and future won’t matter one bit to Vought once Trump starts dictating the way his government spends your money. Don’t ask Congress, Trump seems to be saying with these appointments of Project 2025 pot-stirrers. Don’t consult the Constitution. Just do what he says, or he’ll find someone who will.
But the next four years do not have to look like the first four.
Advanced policies to dramatically reduce the greenhouse gas pollution that is harming our health and putting families and communities at risk.
Would roll back essential protections for clean air and water and a livable climate.
Bolstered scientific understanding of extreme weather events fueled by climate change and publicly-available, real-time weather information.
Would defund scientific research and privatize weather reports.
Signed a clean energy plan into law that provides $369 billion in investment toward the economy of the future – and already accounts for over 300,000 good-paying, family-sustaining jobs.
Would repeal clean energy investments and expand the burning of dirty fossil fuels.
Attended the global climate conference where Vice President Harris affirmed U.S. participation in the Paris Agreement, a blueprint for a stable climate and a safer future for our children.
Would exit the Paris Agreement — again.
